- 28th Eurovision Song Contest held in Munich, West Germany. Out of the twenty competing countries, Luxembourg came first with "Si la vie est cadeau" sung by Corinne Hermès. The UK came sixth with the song I'm Never Giving Up sung by Sweet Dreams.
