Der gleiche Himmel is the original title of a German TV mini-series. The series was first broadcast in Germany on ZDF in March 2017 and subsequently acquired for English language territories by Netflix, and made available from May 2017 under the title The Same Sky.
Set in East and West Berlin in 1974, the series recounts the story of a young Stasi agent sent into West Berlin to seduce a woman in order to obtain intelligence information. The story is interwoven with further plots dealing with a gay East Berlin teacher and a family with a young daughter being trained for the East German swimming team at the next Olympic Games. The backdrop to the series is the 1974 FIFA World Cup held in West Germany (including West Berlin) from 13 June to 7 July.
The series was also shown on Italian TV over two successive nights in September 2017.
