- 7.50 pm All in the Family: Meet the Bunkers. The top-spot award-winning new comedy series adapted by Norman Lear from the favourite BBC series "Till Death Us Do Part" created by Johnny Speight. Archie Bunker is a man who sees the world and everyone in it only from the viewpoint of his own prejudices - which are considerable to say the least. Starring Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker, Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker, Rob Reiner as Mike Stivic, Sally Struthers as Gloria Stivic, Michael Evans as Lionel Jefferson (from the USA)
- 9.20 pm The First Churchills: 1: The Chaste Nymph by Donald Wilson. Starring John Neville, Susan Hampshire, James Villiers and John Standing (See colour feature)
- 10.05 pm Nairn's Journeys The first programme in a series of European journeys with Ian Nairn, writer and outspoken controversial critic of all that is bad or good in townscape and countryside. Annoyed by the traditional image of Switzerland - cowbells and cuckoo clocks - Nairn takes a 50-mile journey from Zurich and discovers a country of strong, passionate contrasts in landscape and architecture.
