Beck Henson (or simply Beck, full name Bek David Campbell, b. 08 July 1970) is American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, moved to New York in 1989 in search of fame as a singer/songwriter, but with little success.
He released his first single Loser in March 1993 while living in extreme poverty back in LA. The song became a hit in the alternative college scene in the US and in the UK eventually reached no.15 a year later.[1] His first major album, Mellow Gold, was also released in March 1994, achieving only modest success although the follow-up Odelay (1996) reached no.17 in the UK and no.16 in the US.
Known for his eclectic style and fusion of various musical styles, Beck has to date released fourteen studio albums. His biggest UK hit single remains The New Pollution, no.14 in March 1997.[2]
His 2017 album, Colors, won awards for Best Alternative Album and Best Engineered Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
